Methodology
We choose the approach that suits the asset and the purpose, and cross-check against market evidence wherever it exists.
For specialised or installed plant that rarely sells as-is — processing lines, fixed plant, purpose-built equipment. We start from the cost of a modern equivalent, add installation, freight and commissioning, then deduct physical deterioration and functional and economic obsolescence.
How DRC worksFor assets with an active second-hand market — mobile plant, earthmoving equipment, trucks and vehicles. We research comparable sales of identical or similar assets and adjust them for age, location, condition, usage and similarity.
The three approachesWhere an asset’s value depends mainly on the income or cost savings it generates and there are few market comparables. Future cash flows are converted to a single present value.
Business valuationsMarket value in existing use assumes the plant stays installed and operating — the usual premise for financial reporting and going-concern sales.
Market value in exchange assumes the plant is removed and sold — the premise behind orderly and forced liquidation values for lenders and insolvency practitioners.
Share your requirements and any asset registers, then sign a proposal with the agreed scope, fees and deliverables.
A specialist valuer inspects the assets and reconciles them against your asset register.
We research replacement costs, comparable sales and useful lives, then adjust for obsolescence.
An IVS-compliant report, reviewed by a director or senior valuer, issued as a draft for your comments, then final.
Coverage
We work Australia-wide — New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia, South Australia, Tasmania, the ACT and the Northern Territory — and throughout New Zealand, inspecting assets on site wherever they are.
